Dance Sun Country will have its Annual recital at the end of each dance year. Participation in the recital not only helps to build self-confidence, but also develops theatrical presence, expressiveness, style and teamwork, which are essential to the performing arts. Although performing in the recital is not mandatory, we do encourage all of our students to share in this rewarding experience. It is a wonderful way for students to showcase the results of their hard work and for family and friends to join in their pride of achievement.
When: May 20, 2017 • Starting at 1:30pm
Where: Phillips Center for the Performing Arts • Gainesville, Florida
Dance Sun Country is excited to celebrate it’s 10th Anniversary Recital! This year’s program features approximately 34 dances, and includes performances by the many students that participated in the 2016-2017 season at Dance Sun Country. All classes, from the Dance Tots (3 year olds) through the advanced level dancers will be performing. Many dance styles will be featured, including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern, musical theatre, lyrical, and contemporary dance.
Included in this year’s program will be dances to represent each of the program’s previous nine recitals. In addition, other dances will represent a true feeling of celebration, and will include such themes as “Party Poppers”, “Tiny Bubbles”, “An Elegant Evening”, “Bouquets of Roses”, “Get The Party Started”, “Confetti”, “Time Of Our Lives”, and “Memories”, to name just a few. This year’s graduating senior, Elaina Buffkin, will perform a special solo in this year’s production. Sun Country Dance Theatre (SCDT), the resident non-profit performing company of DANCE Sun Country, will also perform.
Tickets for the show will go on sale to the public beginning Monday, May 8th, and will be available at Sun Country Sports West, and the Phillips Center Box Office. For additional information, contact Sun Country Sports Center, (352) 331-8773.
