All our gymnasts in the Rainbow Gymnastics Program are winding down on the Summer Muscle Lab Activities that have had them putting in work! All of the coaches have been incredibly impressed by the progress the students have made and look forward to transitioning their newfound strength into the Fall.

During the month of August our students will finish learning about a few more of their core muscles:

  • Legs –  The power generated from an athlete’s lower half is essential for nearly every sport. Lower-body strength can make the difference between getting injured and staying in the game. Having a strong lower body will help increase ones range of motion while helping them avoid falls.

  • Handstand – A handstand is the act of supporting the body in a stable, inverted vertical position by balancing on the hands. In a basic handstand the body is held straight with arms and legs fully extended, with hands spaced approximately shoulder-width apart.

The gymnasts are going to continue to focus on perfecting all of these important muscles in their bodies, then put their strength to the ultimate test by developing one of the most important gymnastic skills in the handstand! We cannot wait to see their continued progress!

Also, remember to support Team USA at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!  Perhaps one day, a Sun Country athlete will get a chance to make the ultimate journey! Get ready to celebrate “Um mundo novo—A new world!”
