Sun Country Sports Center® is accepting applications for a member of the Facilities team with responsibilities in maintenance, handiwork, and possibly school bus driving. Sun Country is a youth sports and fitness center with instructional activities like gymnastics, rock climbing, swimming, and dance. Our childcare programs are licensed with Florida Department of Children and Families and accredited through Council on Accreditation.

Job Description

General Summary

The facilities staff member will perform a variety of maintenance tasks. Duties include light cleaning, minor electrical work, minor plumbing work, landscaping work, basic repairs, and providing maintenance and facilities support for all Sun Country programs at our West and Millhopper locations.

Sun Country is a very unique facility with many fun activities for children and families. This is not your typical facilities position. Most days include a wide variety of fun and interesting projects.

Position requires travel using company vehicles between locations, and to purchase supplies as needed. Preferred duties include driving a school bus to pick up students daily for our After-School program, which will require obtaining a Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement, paid for by the company.

Part-time schedule Monday – Friday between 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM. Sun Country is open 7 days per week, and this position requires on-call availability some weekends (when the department leader is not available).

Essential Job Functions

  • Cleans and maintains facilities
  • Prioritizes maintenance work orders to ensure continual operations
  • Communicates clearly with customers and employees via email, phone & in person
  • Maintains current filing systems
  • Maintains compliance standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Department Leaders and Directors of Operations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of customer service best practices
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, landscaping and building repair processes
  • Knowledge of basic OSHA standards
  • Skill in speaking, reading comprehension and active listening in the English language
  • Skill in complex problem solving, evaluation of options and implementation of solutions
  • Skill in operating basic office and technological equipment and software, including email, spreadsheets and word processing
  • Ability to work independently toward personal and organizational goals
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks at once
  • Ability to organize daily activities and to work as a team player

Education, Experience and Certification

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Florida Drivers License
  • Satisfactory driving record within previous 3 years
  • Level 2 fingerprint background screening (within 2 weeks of hire)
  • CPR / 1st Aid / AED certification (within 30 days of hire)

Preferred:

  • Professional certification in any profession with duties aligning with the position
  • Florida Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement or School Bus Endorsement

Physical Requirements

  • Seeing: Must be able to see well enough to read from a computer screen and perform essential duties as outlined above
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with customers and employees in a loud gym setting
  • Hand Function: Must be able to write, type and perform essential duties as outlined above
  • Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to stoop or kneel to perform repairs and cleaning duties
  • Standing/Walking: Must be able to move about the facility and walk at a fast pace for up to 1 minute over varying levels of gym flooring in an emergency
  • Climbing: Must be able to climb a ladder to perform essential duties as outlined above
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Working Conditions

Normal working conditions absent extreme factors. Our multi-sport facility is a fast-pace, dynamic work environment. Sun Country is open 7 days per week, excluding major holidays, and provides customer service anytime business is open.
