Back Handspring + Tuck Boot Camp

Two of the biggest milestones in tumbling are mastering the back handspring and the back tuck. Sun Country hosts a tumbling clinic focused specifically on these skills for students just beginning with these skills to those who want to put the last finishing touches on their back handspring or back tuck. Our experienced coaches will assist students through a variety of drills designed to increase the strength and muscle memory needed to perform both back handsprings and tucks.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

  • Basic tumbling stations including handstands, rolls, cartwheels and bridges
  • Trampoline and tumble track rotations
  • Conditioning and flexibility exercises
  • Standing back handsprings and back tucks
  • Running tumbling and series work

5 Things to Know About Back Handspring + Tuck Boot Camp:

1: Who is eligible to attend?

Children ages 7 and older who meet the following requirements:

  • Can perform a handstand against a wall and hold it for 5+ seconds.
  • Can perform a bridge and hold it for 5+ seconds.
  • Can complete a backward roll unassisted and stand up.
2: What are the benefits of attending BHTBC?
  • Gain extra time in the gym under the guidance of skilled and experienced staff.
  • Receive personalized coaching to master back handspring and tuck skills.
  • Learn the fundamentals, progressions, conditioning techniques, and safety tips necessary for performing these skills.
3: How long will it take my child to learn a back handspring or tuck?

Every child progresses at their own pace. For optimal results, we recommend supplementing this clinic with regular gymnastics or tumbling classes.

4: What other activities or sports benefit from back handspring and tuck skills?

These skills are valuable for:

  • Cheerleading, NinjaZone, Diving, Karate, Parkour, Breakdancing, Dance, Acrobatics, Artistic Swimming, and more.
  • Improving coordination and agility, which benefit field and ball sports like soccer, baseball, and basketball.
5: Who instructs the clinics?

The clinics are designed by Jose Sucart, Rainbow Gymnastics Department Leader with 34 years of gymnastics expertise. Each session is led by experienced coaches from our recreational and team programs, ensuring high-quality instruction.
