The Sun Country Sports 2,500 square foot indoor rock wall allows you to push your limits in safety and comfort. Our state-of-the-art facility mimics many of the features and textures found on a real rock cliff.

We offer classes for climbers of all ages and skill levels, from basic belaying to lead climbing. Our USA Climbing competitive youth team, Team Rocks, competes around the Southeast.

Climbers are also welcome to drop-in and climb any time the wall is available for open-climb! We offer daily drop-in rates, as well as monthly climbing passes and 10-daily climb punch cards.

The rock wall is stripped and re-set every other Sunday for a variety of climbing challenges. We have all-inclusive setting with unique / diverse walls.

Belaying 101 Class:

Every climber at Sun Country Rocks must pass Sun Country’s belay test to belay someone on a top rope. This class is for anyone who has never belayed on rope before or has not belayed in several years and wants to brush up on their belay skills. If you want to belay your child or other climbers on top rope this class is for you! Available for ages 14 and up.

Skills taught in the class:
• How to inspect and check a harness
• How to inspect and set up a belay device
• How to tie and check a double figure-eight knot
• Climbing commands
• Proper belaying technique

TEAM BUILDING

In todays business environment, success is often dependent on how well company employees function as a team. We can custom tailor a team building program that will enable the participants to focus on developing the elements essential to good team practices. Trust, communication and problem solving are only a few of the skills that can be enhanced through a well facilitated group experience. Using a series of initiatives both on the rock wall and in the gym, we will create a program for your group. Contact us for more details about this program.

Sun Country Rocks General Information:

  • All of our rates include harness and belay device rental.
  • All Climbers must have a signed up-to-date Sun Country Sports waiver on file before climbing. Minors must also have their waiver signed by parent/guardian before climbing. Log into the Parent Portal to download and sign waiver [ Customer Portal Login ].
  • Climbers do not have to be members of Sun Country Sports to climb.
  • No child drop-offs unless they are belay certified (ages 14 and up only).

Sun Country Rocks Safety Rules:

Safety is our greatest concern. There is generally one staff member attending the rock wall area during operating hours. The rock wall staff is responsible for maintaining a safe and exciting environment for climbers. Our staff has an enormous responsibility to keep an eye on all activities at the rock wall and take care of incoming customers. We are asking you to be aware of our policies and rules in order to uphold the safety and the quality of your experience at Sun Country Rocks.

  • Parents with small children are expected to make sure their children follow the rules at all times. This combination of help from staff and parents ensures a safe and fun environment for climbers in the rock wall.
  • No food or drinks are allowed on the blue mat around the base of the rock wall.
  • Climbers that come to the rock wall are not permitted to go into any other program areas (gym floor area, party rooms or cheer floor).

Monthly Auto-Renew:

Monthly Climbing Passes will be auto-renewed each month on the 25th of the month for the upcoming month. No Prorations, refunds or credits once the month has begun. Must fill out an un-enrollment form prior to the 25th of the month if wanting not to continue.

OUR MISSION:

Sun Country Rocks’ mission is to provide a positive, educational and safe climbing environment that challenges new and experienced climbers to grow stronger physically, mentally and emotionally.

Available for ages 6-18 years

These classes focus on making climbing a fun sport and conquering fears. Children will learn safety, confidence, fitness and teamwork. Classes incorporate conditioning and games making this class a FUNdamental way to learn climbing techniques. Children can join Recreational Classes at any time. Appropriate for any skill level.

RECREATIONAL CLASS:

This entry level class will focus on the basics of rock climbing. Climbers will learn the names of basic climbing holds as well as the different safety aspects of the sport such as putting on their harness and learning about climbing shoes. In addition, climbers will learn how to position their bodies and properly use their feet, hands, and bodies in correlation to increase their strength, endurance, and confidence with the sport.

Climbers will begin to learn the art of reading their routes before attempting them. Students will hone their footwork and body positioning to overall increase their climbing ability.

COMPETITIVE YOUTH TEAM:

Sanctioned by USA Climbing, Team Sun Country Rocks, the Competitive Youth Team, trains students how to master their climbing skills. Practicing two days per week, they learn advanced technique for bouldering, top rope and lead climbing and compete in Region 71 qualifying events (includes Florida, Georgia and Alabama).

Team Sun Country Rocks requires director approval and a two-practice trial. Students in recreational classes who demonstrate the necessary skills and coachability may be invited to try team. View more details.
