YOUTH REC CLASSES

Ages 6-18 | Co-Ed

Appropriate for any skill level, these classes focus on making climbing a fun sport and conquering fears. Children will learn safety, confidence, fitness and teamwork while they focus on the basics of rock climbing. Climbers will learn:

Basic climbing holds and safety aspects, such as putting on their harness and climbing shoes
The art of reading their routes before attempting to climb
How to position their bodies and properly use their feet and hands to increase their climbing ability overall

Classes incorporate conditioning and games, making this class a FUNdamental way to learn climbing techniques. Children can join Recreational Classes at any time.

Open Climb

All Ages | Includes Fun Walls!

Open Climb is for families, kids and adults to drop in and climb the rock wall and Fun Walls! While it is not instructional, a staff member will always be present to ensure safety and assist climbers. First-time climbers will undergo a basic safety assessment and training before independent climbing.

Open climb happens some weeknights and Saturday afternoons (link below)
All of our rates include harness and belay device rental
Shoes are available for rental, or climbers can wear sneakers
All Climbers must have a signed up-to-date Sun Country Sports waiver on file before climbing
No child drop-offs unless they are safety trained (ages 14 and up only)

COMPETITIVE YOUTH TEAM

Ages 8-18 | Co-Ed

Sanctioned by USA Climbing, Team Sun Country Rocks trains students how to master their climbing skills. Practicing two days per week, they learn advanced techniques for bouldering, top rope and lead climbing and also compete in Region 71 qualifying events (includes Florida, Georgia and Alabama). Please Note:

Team Sun Country Rocks requires director approval and a two-practice trial
Students in recreational classes who demonstrate the necessary skills and coachability may be invited to try Team Sun Country Rocks

Little Climbers

A fun, safe and nurturing introduction to climbing for little adventurers! Our coaches are trained to assist with spotting, harnesses and belay as little climbers explore the climbing cave and reach the top of our 20+ climbing routes and fun walls!

Available for ages 3-5 • Parents Welcome!

BIRTHDAY PARTIES ON THE ROCK WALL

Experience the adventure and thrill of rock climbing for your next birthday on our state-of-the-art climbing walls!

Whether your birthday guests are brand new or seasoned mountaineers, they will be able to participate in an 80-minute climbing session. We can accommodate a variety of ages and skill levels with top rope stations, auto belays, bouldering and climbing routes updated regularly.

We provide all the equipment necessary, so your climbers only need to bring a thirst for excitement!

Open Climb Rates

1-Day Climbing Pass:

Youth (under 18 years old) or Student (with ID): $17.23 (+ Tax)
Adult: $19.08 (+ Tax)

5-Climb Punch Card:

Youth (under 18 years old) or Student (with ID): $75.68 (+ Tax)
Adult: $81.25 (+ Tax)

Monthly Auto-Renew:

Youth (under 18 years old) or Student (with ID): $65.67 (+ Tax)
Adult: $72.35 (+ Tax)
Monthly climbing passes will be auto-renewed on the 25^th of each month for the upcoming month. Your first month may be pro-rated based on your start date. No refunds or credits once the month has begun. Must fill out an un-enrollment form by the 24^th of the month if wanting to discontinue.

What location is the Rock Wall located?

The Rock Wall is located at our West Location: 333 SW 140^th Terrace, Jonesville, FL 32669

Can adults and children climb the Rock Wall?

Absolutely! Climbing makes an excellent full-body workout for children and adults. We have routes for climbers of any skill level.

Do I have to sign up in advance to come in to climb?

While you can usually show up for open climb, and there usually is space, climbers are encouraged to enroll for open climb in advance.

Can I use missed class passes for friends?

Yes! Missed class passes are a great way to show friends how much fun they can have at Sun Country!

Is membership required?

Membership is only required for families enrolling children in our youth rec classes. Sun Country members get a discounted rate on open climb. For climbers who plan to visit frequently for open climb, it may be worthwhile to become a member.

When is open climb offered?

Generally, open climb is offered weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons. The current open climb schedule is always available at suncountryrocks.com. While we strive to keep a consistent schedule for open climb, we do occasionally make adjustments due to popularity of certain days and other events at Sun Country.

Do I need to be belay certified? How can I get belay certified?

Most of the routes at Sun Country use auto-belays instead of traditional top-rope. You can view the intro video at suncountryrocks.com to learn how to use our auto-belays, and an instructor will always be present to do a brief safety training with you when you arrive for your first climb. If you’re interested in belay certification for top-rope, you can do so during any of the open climb times for no additional charge.

How are classes different than open climb?

Classes are for children ages 6-17 and are the best way for youth to learn and progress in their rock-climbing ability. Our friendly instructors teach the basic techniques for them to build confidence and reach their goals. Kids in classes who show exceptional climbing skills may be invited to join the USA Climbing competitive team.

Open climb is intended for youth and adults of any age to free climb. Instructors are always present for open climb and will be happy to assist anyone who is interested in learning more. However, open climb does not follow the structure of an instructional class.
